A few years ago the creators of Siri began work on a groundbreaking AI that would alter the reality of human-computer interaction as we know it. Think of it as Siri 10.0. It isn’t limited to your phone and doesn’t exist simply to forecast the weather or suggest directions; instead, it is able to coordinate a gigantic network of services in and out of the home. To make your life easier, it will learn and make decisions as a global brain across all your devices. It’s some pretty exciting stuff, and Someoddpilot was excited to get involved. We helped give Viv its name, create the logo, and add some brand personality to this revolutionary creation.
Historically, a system as powerful and mind-boggling as this new global brain might provoke confusion, if not trepidation. People are still intimidated by the sci-fi dynamic that these human-tech hybrids bring to their lives. So we knew we had to create a persona that would connect with people on a human-level. Mirroring the Latin root for “life,” the name Viv was the perfect fit for something so powerful and ever-evolving. The name feels organic and familiar, and suggests that the AI spans multiple contexts, multiple devices, and multiple companies simultaneously. It is a ubiquitous fabric that has the potential to connect and improve everything.
Viv is set to become a ubiquitous tech presence, so the logo needed to be designed to seamlessly integrate into people’s lives, carrying on the tradition of the wifi and bluetooth symbols. The floating bar provides a deep sense of security and is suggestive of both energy and progress. As it scales the logo exhibits an inherent animation that conveys movement and activity, evincing Viv as a dynamic source of intelligence with a limitless capabilities.
