Web design and development, print design, branding and curation for our art gallery.
We are artists. Our friends are artists and many of our clients are artists. Accordingly, we celebrated 10 years in business in 2009 by producing an art exhibition and speaker series in Chicago’s West Loop entitled Public Works. The goal was to advance the art and wisdom of globally-recognized designers and creative entrepreneurs who also make a living doing what they love – a tough game (to which we can attest). The show was so well received that it was produced again in 2010, and again in 2011, this time in our very own art gallery adjacent to the Someoddpilot design studio in the pulsing heart of Wicker Park. Our gallery has become a serious hub of design, music and socialization in Chicago, and we’re excited to support more and more weight from the city, the region and the country as we grow.
publicworksgallery.com is our online extension of the gallery. It interweaves Public Works within the rigid grid of Chicago’s art scene, and connects us to the art movements on both coasts and across both oceans. ”Exhibitions” lists upcoming shows and events in the gallery, “Observations” features one choice artist or project a days.
We also design, write and produce a single-sheet newsprint zine for every exhibition. We run around town dropping stacks at boutiques, cafes and bars, send copies out to collectors across the country, and undertake extremely messy, somewhat ham-handed wheatpasting campaigns. The upholstery of our cars suffers greatly at the sticky fingers of our efforts, but such are the sacrifices of diy promoting.
