Under The Radar
Web design and development for a music editorial.
Under the Radar bills itself as “The Solution to Music Pollution” and as their name suggests, they have absolutely garnered a reputation for discovering and giving ink to up-and-coming bands. They were early supporters of Bright Eyes, Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, M. Ward, TV on the Radio, and Feist and they granted the first American interviews to Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, The Duke Spirit, Friendly Fires, Glasvegas, The Pipettes, The Dears, Mew, Los Campesinos!, Mystery Jets, The Go! Team, Editors, Love Is All, and more.
They came to us looking for a viable way to bring their magazine online. Not a Pitchfork, this true mom-and-pop business consists of Mark (the editor) and his wife Wendy (the photographer). To allow them to publish their content in as compelling a way as possible, we designed a homepage that allows the newest item to be pushed to the top, no matter the category, so that the visit always appears fresh. Built upon a ExpressionEngine backend, the site is truly an efficient, less-is-more solution that stands the test of time for one simple fact: it feels good to read.
